Cirkular has announced the release of CRK01 Odyssey Beats Lite, a free sample pack featuring drum beats created with ARP Odyssey analog synthesizer. As the name suggests, CRK01 Odyssey Beats Lite is a stripped-down version of a bigger collection; it brings 2 sample kits ranging from 70’s inspired percussion to modern techno. The Odyssey is Behringer's faithful circuit re-creation of the classic ARP Odyssey synthesizer. It features pure analog signal path, with two VCOs that can be run in paraphonic voice mode. The oscillators are run through one of three filters - a 2-pole MK1, 4-pole MK2 and 4-pole MK3, covering all the bases of the classic. In 2015, in collaboration with ARP Instruments co-founder David Friend, KORG recreated the original 1972 ARP ODYSSEY using precise models of the transistors, capacitors, and resistors used in the hardware model. KORG has once again recreated the ODYSSEY in plugin form. ARP ODYSSEY/KORG USB-MIDI Driver (for Windows 10) 1.15 r41e 2020.12.10 / EXE: 6.3MB.
The scaled-down version of the Arp 2600 ! the famous Arp Odyssey appeared in 1972.

The VST is souding good. It also adds a chorus and a delay that are not present in the hardware model.

There are some minor problems or bug (but nothing that prevent from using it) i discovered while making presets for this :
– glide parameter is not saved per preset.
– when using the AR on VCA, the PWM modulation stop when releasing the key (it doesn’t happen with ADSR)
– LFO tempo sync on/off state is not saved per preset.
– and other bugs
but it’s the best freeware VST synth if you want an emulation of the Arp Odyssey.

It has two oscillators with adjustable pulse width and tuning, an LFO section that includes glide control, filters with their own envelope generators, an envelope section and a master section where to apply basic adjustments to the instrument.
It works both in standalone mode as well as integrated with a sequencer.
